surrealism

Tonight I find myself writing an essay on Surrealism. I am thoroughly enjoying everything that I am learning tonight, so I thought I would share a few of my favourite images with my Blog. Hopefully this makes my blog page look even prettier.

Afterall, a blog with pictures is far more interesting than a blog with words.

Still, just to give these images a little context I will share a few notes from my essay:

Surrealism is an impatient interrogation of reality, an endeavor to change life by disputing all recieved ideas about the world, by discrediting the so-called 'reality' structured by an incomplete consciousness.

The Surrealist artists aims to make man aware of his inner self, his internal ‘desire’ which has been suppressed by his social environment and personal inhibitions, and to realise his true self through the process of passing unconscious thoughts and feelings to a conscious awareness.

a nice aesthetic

This piece is titled "Nobody Understands", by australian artist Shaun Tan. My blog title "the lost thing" is borrowed from one of his picture books, and as such, I thought it would be a fitting first post to share with you one of my favourite Shaun Tan drawings.

Hope you like it as much as I do.
